We write this newspaper to powerful people — presidents, senators, networks. We almost never write to a mother. We are writing to you because yesterday a man stood up in a Navy courtroom and finally said your daughter's name and what he did to her, and we did not want that to be the last time her name was said carefully this week.

Her name is Angelina Resendiz. Angie. She was twenty-one. She was a culinary specialist aboard a United States Navy destroyer, the USS James E.
